Space Exploration with AMAS

On September 10th, on the occasion of the inauguration of the African Space Agency (ASA), a science outreach activity was held at Trichardt School for Christian Education, in the Matola A neighborhood. The main goal of the initiative was to celebrate Space Exploration, a topic of great relevance to the advancement of science and technology in the modern era, providing students with an interactive and inspiring environment. These actions aim to spark curiosity and encourage the involvement of students and teachers, both national and international, in fields related to astronomy and space sciences. The event also reinforced the importance of research and international collaboration as tools for expanding scientific and technological horizons. During the session, students had the opportunity to hear from national professionals, such as Edson Jequecene (an astronomy student in Brazil), who presented the Citizen Science project, which aims to bring science closer to society, democratizing knowledge and allowing anyone, regardless of background, to contribute to scientific discoveries and the advancement of science. And internationally, Juan Nolasco (a teacher in Portugal and collaborator with the European Space Agency – ESA) shared experiences from educational projects such as Mooncamp Challenge (https://mooncampchallenge.org/), Mission X (https://trainlikeanastronaut.org/), and Climate Detectives (https://climatedetectives.esa.int/), among others. Our special thanks go to the team that made this activity possible, especially Toivo Mabote and Yara Simango, who coordinated the initiative together with the school's staff. We also thank Cíntia Sambo, Harmany Júlio Nota, and Milton Paulo Mbalate for their dedication, which was essential to promoting science and technology.
